About Me
Mr. Michael Pan Yin-Or Ornido is a sacred artist and illustrator based in San Francisco, California and a Third Order Dominican (his Dominican name is John Luke O.P.). He is currently finishing up his Master’s degree in oil painting at the Sacred Art School Firenze in Florence, Italy and is now a classical art teacher at Nativity High School in San Francisco, California. He also studied art at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (Visual Arts Program) and UC Berkeley (BA Art Practice). His patrons are Saints Michael the Archangel, Dominic de Guzmán, Luke the Apostle, and Blessed Fra Angelico.
Michael creates using many media, but he most enjoys oil painting and illustration. He combines surreal and classical fine art aesthetics and is inspired by Caravaggio for his moving sacred art and dramatic use of light. His work has been exhibited, or are on permanent display, at Saint Dominic’s Catholic Church (San Francisco), Star of the Sea Church (San Francisco), Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, Holy Spirit Church (Fremont), the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco City Hall, San Francisco International Airport, Worth Ryder Art Gallery, and in the private residences of devout Catholics.
